The SWPS Melba Choir had the incredible opportunity to perform at the prestigious O2 Arena in London as part of the Young Voices concert, the largest school choir in the world. Our talented choir members have been diligently rehearsing and preparing for this event over the last few months. The excitement and anticipation were evident as our SWPS students arrived at the arena. With nearly 9,000 singers performing, the sheer size of the arena was awe-inspiring, and the acoustics were phenomenal.
As the Melba choir began their performance, the air was filled with a sense of joy and camaraderie. The infectious energy of the singers resonated throughout the arena, creating an electric atmosphere. The repertoire ranged from classic 1960 pieces such as What the World Needs Now is Love to contemporary melodies from Matilda and Moana, showcasing the versatility and talent of the SWPS Melba Choir.
The concert marked a significant milestone for Mr Lawrence who celebrated 25-years as conductor for the Young Voices. During the event, our students also enjoyed guest performances from MC Grammar and 13-year-old Drummer, Musician and Social Media personality, Nandi Bushell.
The Young Voices concert was a testament to the power of music to uplift, inspire, and bring together students from different backgrounds, uniting them in a shared passion for singing.
