SIXTH FORM FUTURES PROGRAMME
With the pace of change having a huge impact on how and where we work in future, our pupils are well prepared to consider their options for life after SWPS. Our Futures Programme provides a comprehensive framework to equip students for life beyond their school years.
Speaking up and speaking out is encouraged from the earliest years, as is building a strong sense of self. Every pupil receives first-class guidance for their journey into life beyond SWPS. Our Careers and Higher Education programme begins in a pupil’s first year, and continues as part of their PSHE curriculum. The support increases as pupils move into Year 11 and they start to focus more intently on university destinations, personal statements and relevant work experience.
Our Sixth Form is an important bridge to higher education. Students are encouraged to think widely about their choices.
Good careers guidance is a vital part of providing students with the best possible chance to succeed in their future. The careers programme is designed to ensure that students get used to thinking about career opportunities from the very start of their time here.
Students receive age-appropriate career information, as well as additional support at key transition points. As part of the programme, students have access to bespoke tools, including Morrisby in Year 11, to assist with career exploration and investigation, accompanied by meaningful interactions with the careers department and employers. Students will have the power and autonomy to design their life and aspire to become whomever they choose.
As students start to contemplate life beyond school, our experienced careers and higher education team offer students specialist advice, support and a full programme of events introducing them to the very broad range of higher education opportunities and career pathways that lie ahead of them.
Students never truly leave the SWPS Community and are invited to join The Perkonian Network with other SWPS alumnae to keep in touch with their friends and the school.
'There is a comprehensive careers programme, including annual careers and higher education fairs, to provide pupils with accurate and impartial careers advice.'
