The transition to Sixth Form marks an exciting and pivotal stage in your academic journey. With the re-introduction of linear A Levels, the pathway to university and beyond has evolved. Universities now focus on strong A Level grades across three core subjects, alongside evidence of wider interests and the development of transferable skills that set students apart.
At Sir William Perkins’s School, we offer more than just academic excellence. Our commitment to preparing students for the most competitive universities is reflected in our extended curriculum. This is the ‘Plus’ side of academic life in our Sixth Form, designed to help students stand out and succeed.
In addition to choosing three core A Levels, students must select one of the following options to complement their studies and enhance their university applications:
- The Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) – a research-based project where students independently explore a topic of their choice, developing skills in planning, research, and presentation, culminating in a written report or practical outcome.
- Demonstration of significant co-curricular commitments, such as playing at county-level sport or engaging in other high-level pursuits.
- Accreditation Course – offers short, skill-based programs designed to broaden experiences and boost employability.
- A fourth A Level (usually Further Maths)
Alongside these, all students actively participate in our Life Skills Programme, equipping them with the skills and insights needed for their future pathways.
