SIXTH FORM CURRICULUM

Our Sixth Form represents a new phase of independence and is ideal preparation for university, adulthood and everything else that awaits.  Life in the Sixth Form is exciting, offering intellectual freedom and engaging discussion as well as a rich and rewarding co-curricular programme. A warm, relaxed and inclusive environment enables you to develop personal and academic confidence. We provide a rich and flexible programme to broaden thinking skills and stretch our students intellectually.  There is a great deal of flexibility in the way in which you may approach your choice of courses at Sixth Form level.  Departments choose the qualification which they feel provides the best educational experience and potential outcomes for our students.  Sixth Form subjects are arranged in four blocks, with only one subject to be chosen from each block. Some subjects appear in more than one block to give a wider choice of subject combinations.  You will benefit from expert teaching in small groups and our state-of-the-art Sixth Form Centre provides a modern base for study.  We encourage our students to undertake the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) in Year 12. This is a self-directed and self-motivated study based on an area of personal interest which extends thinking beyond A level subject choices.  Our programme of study is complemented by regular lectures, talks and other academic enrichment opportunities to ensure that students, staff and parents all continue on your journey of discovery.

THE A LEVEL CURRICULUM

In Year 12, our students typically take three A level courses – those taking Further Mathematics take up to four. We offer an excellent range of 25 subjects, all taught by specialist staff.
