This year the Higher Project Qualification (HPQ) was introduced to our Year 9 students, marking the first time that this qualification has been offered at SWPS. This innovative qualification, equivalent to half a GCSE, challenges students to delve into their chosen subjects deeply, requiring them to produce a comprehensive report of 2,000 words, maintain a research logbook, and deliver a presentation.

After months of hard work and planning the Year 9s’ HPQ presentations took centre stage. It was evident that our students had embraced the challenge with enthusiasm and determination, demonstrating their critical thinking, research, and time management skills.

The breadth of topics and subjects chosen was hugely varied. Each presentation highlighted the students’ passion for their chosen subject, from exploring the impact of AI in education to dementia. The students showed an understanding and appreciation for their subject areas and had carried out in-depth research to support their presentations.

As we reflect on the success of the HPQ presentations, we congratulate all the presenters for their spirit of intellectual curiosity and academic efforts, setting high standards for next year’s students.
