On Tuesday 13 June, Year 7 went to St Albans to visit the Roman site of Verulamium. During the trip we saw real Roman artefacts and discovered what life was like in the ancient town.
In our taught session at the Verulamium Museum, we found out that there were different classes of people in a Roman town and even got to dress up as them! One of our favourite sections was the mosaic display; they were used as a decoration in homes, either on the floor or on the wall and were placed in important spaces such as the dining rooms. We also got to see the remains of a Roman theatre – the only one left in Britain.
These kinds of trips really do help to experience what is was like living in Roman Britain. Although it was a hot sunny day, we all managed to enjoy ourselves and even had time for ice cream in the park. Year 7 really do appreciate the staff for planning this event for us! We hope to see more trips like this in the future.
