This term is expedition season – the term we plan and train for all year! The sun may not have shone for us much but all our students and volunteers certainly made the most of their time out on expedition. We have had a great time in the Lake District, Surrey Hills, Exmoor and the Peak District.  We have walked, talked, planned, climbed, carried and cooked our way across the countryside with grit, determination and smiles on our faces. Our Silver students got stuck in the mud (literally!), some of our Bronze teams stumbled across a magician in a Surrey Hills village and our Gold Team celebrated Deborah M’s birthday with cake in a field. Four expeditions, two planning sessions, a volunteer driving assessment day, an information evening and nine amazing expedition presentations have all been successfully delivered this term.

As we start to think about enrolling our next Bronze, Silver and Gold cohorts we can reflect on everything the students have achieved this year.  We have been proud of everything they have accomplished and are delighted to see their dedication and effort rewarded. Some Gold students attended their Gold presentation at Buckingham Palace in May while the School has received a certificate from The DofE recognising our students’ contribution of £13,314 in social value to the community. That’s an amazing 2522 hours of volunteering time from doing DofE.

We cannot end the year without a huge thank you to all our parent volunteers who support us so brilliantly to run the expedition programme – thank you to you all!
