The Globe is iconic for plays by Shakespeare, some of which include Macbeth, Othello and Antony and Cleopatra, hence the name “Shakespeare’s Globe”. What some may not know is that Shakespeare wrote A Comedy of Errors, and some of SWPS English students got to see this on May 20; it was a good insight into the comedy at the time and I think it’s good to see that Shakespeare still has an impact on comedy as well as tragedy with how everybody in the audience were laughing. Although, I will admit the plot was a little confusing, but that’s the same for every comedy; it’s supposed to be slightly silly and nonsensical to the point of having the audience laugh out loud. That’s not to criticise Shakespeare and say it was awful, it did have a plot and was executed brilliantly. Thank you Dr Mercer for organising the trip.
