SWPS Christmas Fair
What a great Christmas Fair and Christmas Concert. There was a very special atmosphere and our external vendors told us of the lovely feeling they get when they come to our school – testament to what a great community we have here at SWPS!
Thanks goes to everyone who supported our Christmas Fair, the Friends of Sir William Perkins’s (FOSWPS) raised almost £10,000 this year! Congratulations must go to all the Year 7 and 8 class stalls, who collectively raised just short of £2,500. A special mention goes to Eleni and her mum Eve, who set up and ran the chocolate tombola, with their enchantment of elves – they raised a whopping £575.21.
Thank you Friends of Sir William Perkins’s School
FOSWPS have funded several projects over the last year including, but not exclusively, the Year 13 Leavers Ball, four new gazebos in House colours, two new Samba kits for the Music Department, a new sound system for the Drama Department, and new equipment and supplies for the Textiles Department. This term FOSWPS kindly purchased a binocular microscope to help our budding biologists identify the mutations in Drosophila and set up some breeding experiments to determine the inheritance pattern.
Join the committee – lend us your time or talent
FOSWPS are always looking for new Committee members and volunteers to help us at events. If you could spare a little time and would like to know more please do email us at friends.of.swps@gmail.com
If you don’t feel you have the time to volunteer, there are two simple ways you can support us:
- Fill out a gift aid declaration form (available via our page on the school website) – we would like everyone to fill out one of these forms, even if you have done so in the past, as we currently have less than half the number of forms we should have. For every pound that you donate to the Friends of SWPS we can claim back 25p – but we can only do that if we have a completed form from you.
- Sign up to Easyfundraising – there is a huge list of online retailers who will donate a small percentage of their sales to your nominated charity (please select Friends of Sir William Perkins’s School) at no extra cost to you – you can sign up via the link on our page of the school website at https://www.swps.org.uk/friends-of-swps
