SWPS Art Exhibition
Our summer art exhibition was an extraordinary event, containing beautiful and exciting artwork from our incredibly hard-working students. For two weeks, the whole of the top floor of the Art Department was turned into a gallery space where we displayed oil paintings, drawings, watercolours, printmaking, photography, and installations. A private viewing of our GCSE and A Level exhibition took place on Thursday 22 June 2023. Parents, students and staff mingled, enjoyed refreshments whilst looking at the talented pieces of work our students have created. The standard of their work is phenomenal and they deserve to do extremely well in the external examinations.
Year 9
Mrs. Elden-Ford and her Year 9 Art classes completed an ambitious Bridget Riley and Op Art-inspired paper construction project this term. Using a combination of mathematic skill and artistic flair they have produced a collaborative art installation which certainly catches the eye. The students employed the black-and-white patterns and abstract images of the Optical Art movement to create a dynamic and impressive body of work. The installation is currently on display in the atrium.
