Meet the Head of Year 7, Mrs Stebbings, and find out what her favourite things are about SWPS
How long have you been at SWPS?
“I have been at SWPS for just over 17 years and I have been Head of Year 7 for seven years, meaning the current Year 13, who are about to fly the nest, were my first cohort.”
What does your role as Head of Year 7 involve?
“My role as Head of Year 7 is extremely satisfying, as I have the privilege of guiding all the young people who join us on their journey to becoming fully immersed in school life. Some are shy, others brimming with confidence, but by the time they are ready to go on into Year 8 they are already SWPS through and through.”
What do you love most about your job?
“What I love most about my job is the trust these youngsters place in me to help them and sort their troubles. Sometimes all they need to do is talk it through, but occasionally my pearls of wisdom make a huge difference. My unique role in the school means that I get to know every child and their families, something I truly value. A colleague asked a group of Year 7s what I was like and they answered “Mrs Stebbings is firm but fair, and if she has to tell you off she does it nicely and it’s always for our own good.” Doing my job well means the path through SWPS is easy to tread because we are all on firm ground, spreading kindness and knowing right from wrong.”
