Amazing results for SWPS at the Guildford Classical Association Greek and Latin Reading Competition

The annual GCA reading competition was once again held at St. Catherine’s Bramley. There was a distinguished team of judges including the president of the association, Professor Llewelyn Morgan of Brasenose College Oxford, who presented the prizes.

The students from SWPS worked hard to perfect their pieces and were incredibly successful in the competition.

Becky O won first prize in the Senior Latin section with her beautiful delivery of one of Horace’s most famous odes,’diffugere nives’.

In the Intermediate Latin Erin B came second with a powerful performance of Calgacus’s speech about the Roman invaders

In the Transitional Latin Katie McC and Ellie R-C were placed first and Rosie K and Ellen T second.

In the Junior Latin Mya P and Hannah A were placed third.

In the Beginners Latin Lizzie B and Chloe H took second place and Tashie T and Saskia C-W were third.

Well done to all the competitors and thank you for your commitment and dedication.
