SWPS was a wash of excitement on a hot, sunny July day for the SWPS Charity Jamboree.  It was a day of friendship, fun, and House activities and a chance to raise some money for the school’s nominated charity. SWPS students arrived in House mufti, and as part of Wellbeing week, Year 12 requested that the Charity Jamboree was a screen-free day; mobile phones were handed in to Form Tutors and students’ iPads were locked away.

In their Houses, students enjoyed some fun activities:

·         Lonsdale : ‘Would I lie to you’ Quiz

·         Montagu : Scavenger Hunt around the school

·         Pankhurst : Friendship bracelet making and pictures in the fun photo booth

·         Quant : Rounders on the back field

During the lunch period, the Quad was set up with charity stalls which were run by our Sixth Form, and the staff and students were treated to busking by our Music prefects, a delicious summer BBQ followed by ice cream.

A popular highlight of the day for students was ‘Splat the Teacher’ which involved throwing wet sponges full of soaking water at a brave group of staff – all in the name of charity, of course.

The afternoon was rounded off with a whole-school inter House giant tug-of-war, finishing with a Sixth Form v Staff contest.

Listening to the sounds of laughter and smiles amongst our SWPS community it’s safe to say the day was truly enjoyable.  A huge thank you to Mrs O’Connor and her team for all their hard work, organisation and fund-raising for the school’s nominated charities.
