Celebrating a Milestone: Honouring 300 Years of SWPS Spirit
Whole School Photo
As we step into the tercentenary year marking our school’s 300th anniversary, we reflect upon the essence of SWPS. To mark this occasion, we brought together our entire school community -students, teachers, and staff – for a special photograph that embodies the unity, strength, and enduring spirit that has characterised SWPS for three centuries.
This photo is more than just a snapshot of time; it’s a tribute to everyone who has been a part of our journey. It stands as a testament to the generations who have walked these halls, each playing a role in shaping the vibrant and diverse community we hold dear.
Alumnae Afternoon Tea
We were thrilled to welcome our Alumnae community for the Annual Afternoon Tea Reunion, a special event marking the 300th Anniversary of SWPS. The afternoon featured a sumptuous buffet prepared by our in-house Chef and a school tour led by our student ambassadors. Alumnae had the opportunity to browse past yearbooks, photographs, and memorabilia from our archives. Thank you to everyone who made this event memorable. We look forward to many more celebrations and milestones in the future.
Bikeathon
As part of our celebrations for the SWPS tercentenary, our Year 13 students organised a sponsored bikeathon, which took place in October. The event raised funds for Climate Outreach, a UK charity which focuses on public engagement with climate change. Each student cycled on an exercise bike for a 30-minute session. Thank you to everyone who took part, collectively our community cycled 1500 km over three days. The bikeathon empathised the importance of giving back to the community and being more sustainable.
SWPS 2025 Reading Challenge
SWPS has launched a 300-reading challenge. Whereby the community aims to read 300 books from now until July. If you are interested in joining in, please download the grid now on firefly and start reading!
SWPS original old school bell
Mrs. Tyler and the Project 300 team have discovered an antique bell at the site, believed to be a small school or estate bell from the early 1900s, possibly installed when SWPS was rebuilt. It’s made of cast-iron and might have originally been mounted in the cupola of the 1914 main building. If anyone can share any historical information about the bell, please do get in touch.
Here’s to 300 years of excellence, community, and an unwavering dedication to education. Let this year be a celebration of SWPS’s past, present, and future, inspiring generations to come.
