Year 12 Physics Silver Crest Award

Our Physics department provides an array of super-curricular opportunities to our SWPS students.  Our physicians have all completed individually managed research projects for the Silver Crest Award.  This award is designed to stretch students and enrich their STEM studies.  Congratulations to Ashbury, Alexa, Féirín, Grace, Hattie, Indianna, Laura, Maddie and Neve for their work on their Silver Crest Award.

Greenpower Kit Car Project

This term, our Sixth Form students started building a Greenpower Kit Car from scratch. This hands-on project is not only an engineering challenge but also a fantastic opportunity for our students to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical setting. As they work on the car, our sixth formers are delving into the fundamental principles of engineering and motor mechanics. They have made significant strides in the construction process, and we’re excited to share that the brakes and steering wheel have already been installed. This initiative not only promotes technical skills but also encourages problem-solving, creativity, and innovation among our students. The Greenpower Kit Car allows our students to see first-hand how concepts are applied in the real world. We can’t wait to see the finished product.

Science at the Year 6 Taster day

Maggot racing, chemistry quizzes, and thrilling physics experiments were just a few highlights of the Year 6 Taster Day at the start of the term. The visiting Year 6 students had the opportunity to spend half a day exploring the school, meeting our friendly and talented teachers whilst experiencing our wonderful facilities. The perfect introduction to life as a SWPS Year 7 student!
