Matt Killeen, the author of the bestselling book "Orphan Monster Spy" and its sequel - "Devil Darling Spy", talked to our students in years 9 & 10 about heroes in fiction and in reality, the resistance, and about his inspiration for writing books set during World War Two.

History & Politics Society Talk - 'The Legacy of US Presidents'

In the first meeting of the student-led SWPS History and Politics Society on 19 January 2021, over 50 people, including students from Grey Court School in Richmond, attended an illuminating lecture and an extended Q & A from Dr Thomas Tunstall Allcock, a modern History specialist from the University of Manchester.

'Acting Through Song' Theatre Workshop

This term we have hosted a workshop with musical theatre star, Lizzie Bea. Lizzie is currently appearing in ‘Hairspray’ with Michael Ball, which will hopefully open in theatres later this year!

New Science Enrichment Club at SWPS

ABRSM Music and Singing Exam Results

Congratulations to our music and singing students for their ABRSM  exam results! Over 50 students took exams in the Autumn Term and their dedication is richly rewarded!

Christmas 2020

We completed an exciting and energetic term back at SWPS with a wealth of Christmas celebrations. From our traditional panto, to making gingerbread Cyclops, wearing fancy dress and recreating a traditional German market - lots of fun was head by all.

British Civil War Lecture from author Dr Miranda Malins

We were very excited to welcome Dr Miranda Malins to talk to our Year 8s on Friday. They have spent the term studying the bloodiest period in British History, the 17th Century, containing the British Civil War and culminating in regicide.

Christmas Carol Service 2020

Our Christmas Carol Service will be broadcast virtually in 2020, with two live-streams from St Peter’s Church in Chertsey.

Ready Steady Paella

Our Technology and Spanish Departments joined forces to plan and deliver ‘Ready Steady Paella’ to Year 8 to coincide with the Food Technology Cultural Cuisine module and the Spanish department’s introduction to La comida española.

Black History Month

Black History Month saw approximately 40 students enter our BAME Icon Competition. Our students selected figures from a range of fields; medicine, social protest, science, sport, culture, politics and even Space to write about. These included important individuals such as Paul Stephenson, Lilan Bader, Bass Reeves, Mary Seacole, Alice August Ball and Iqra Babar.

Hand Sanitiser Heroes

SWPS student Anika P, along with sister Anushka and cousin Sasha met with Richmond Park MP Sarah Olney recently to discuss their distribution of 10,000 bottles of hand sanitiser to food banks during the early stages of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Computer Science - SWPS Tech Success

SWPS Computer Science Department was launched in 2015. The aim of this project was to inspire our students to continue Computer Science into GCSE and A Level study, in the hope that they would be inspired to apply for and accept places at University

Textile Room for the Future

Alexa Z Launches Lockdown Diddy School

SWPS Year 8 student Alexa Z took lockdown into her own hands and launched a 'Diddy-School' for nine year old sister  Lulu! Her lesson-planning, timetabling and teaching quality was so good that soon friends and family signed up their own children to benefit!

Stephanie Marks Diabetes Centre reaches 10 Year Anniversary

The Stephanie Marks Diabetes Resource Centre recently celebrated a decade of patient care since it was officially opened on the 20th May 2010 by Sir Ian Botham OBE.

After the untimely death of former SWPS student 17 year old Stephanie Marks, who dreamed of becoming a doctor, a £1 million diabetes resource centre was opened in her name.
