A Christmas Carol

At the end of November, Year 7 enjoyed a wonderful performance of ‘A Christmas Carol’ performed by The Quantum Theatre Company. The performance was impressively true to the text and featured a cast of three, who deftly switched roles throughout the performance. The actors encapsulated the characters of Scrooge, Bob Crachit, the haunting three spirits which come to visit Scrooge and of course, Tiny Tim, who drew many ‘Ahhs’ from the audience.

The play was interspersed with renditions of well-loved carols such as ‘God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen’ and ‘In the Bleak Midwinter’, which put us all in the Christmas spirit. Perhaps the most enthralling moment was the appearance of Marley’s ghost, who laden by chains, began the transformation of Scrooge, making him question his tight-fisted ways. Members of 7L recreated this moment in lessons this week (see below.)  A merry time was had by all and the company were greeted with rapturous applause following Tiny Tim’s famous last line of the novel: ‘God bless Us, Every One!’
