We offer a dynamic and inclusive sports programme that supports both elite athletes and enthusiastic beginners. Our students develop in an environment that values commitment, resilience, and teamwork.

Co-curricular Sports
At SWPS, co-curricular sport is about more than competition – it’s about discovery, wellbeing, and fun. Our extensive programme ensures that every student – regardless of ability or experience – can find a sport they love and a team they belong to. We believe that sport should be accessible, enjoyable, and enriching for all. Our co-curricular programme runs throughout the week, offering a wide range of activities that promote physical health, mental wellbeing, and social connection.
- Dance and fitness clubs
- Yoga and wellbeing sessions
- Inter-house competitions
- Recreational sport and lunchtime clubs

Elite Provision
Students with the potential to progress beyond school standard receive a high quality and structured training programme. This enables them to develop the necessary skills in their chosen sport, alongside other key components such as diet and nutrition, conditioning programmes and boosting time management skills. This support is enhanced through the Sports Scholars’ and Aspire programmes. We are delighted to follow the exciting sporting careers of many former students who now compete professionally.

Rowing
Rowing was first introduced at SWPS in 2003. Since then, the boat club has grown to become one of the largest and most competitive clubs at SWPS and one of the top school boat clubs in the United Kingdom. Since its foundation, SWPS rowers have won numerous medals at the National Schools’ Regatta, Henley Women’s Regatta and qualified boats at Henley Royal Regatta. Perkonian athletes represent Great Britain at U16 and U18 level as well as the Olympics.
The reason for SWPS’s success over the years is our training ethos which relies on fun, teamwork and the commitment of those who participate in the boat club. Most of all, enjoyment of the sport is encouraged by our coaches as an essential element in success. Rowing at SWPS is delivered by Rowing staff who deliver a programme proven to produce well-rounded and dedicated young athletes.

Sports Facilities
We are fortunate to have outstanding facilities on our campus. The sports centre includes a Sports Hall, fitness suite and studio and classroom space. Students also benefit from grass pitches, an astroturf pitch, netball courts, hard tennis courts and an athletics track.

Sport Beyond the Classroom
Students have access to a range of opportunities beyond the sports field at SWPS, including:
- National and regional competitions
- Sports tours and training camps
- Leadership roles including Sports Captains and Ambassadors
- Volunteering and coaching opportunities

All students have access to co-curricular clubs, training and inter-school fixtures and competitions for football, gymnastics, cross country, dance, badminton, volleyball, tennis, and athletics.
