World Book Day – Thursday, 2 March
As in previous years, the library and the whole SWPS community will be celebrating the International World Book Day.
World Book Day falls on Thursday, 2 March and this year we plan to celebrate throughout the week, offering students the opportunity to take part in and enjoy a variety of events and competitions.

Bookish Costume Dress Up day
Friday, 3 March offers a school wide bookish costume dress up day, when students are invited to dress up as their favourite book characters if they wish. If students do dress up in a costume, we ask that they make themselves known in the library at lunch time on the day for the chance of winning a bookish prize!  As with all non-uniform days, a £1 donation will be requested from students which goes to the Classroom in the Clouds charity.

Competitions
In addition to our fancy costume dress up there will also be various competitions open to all students throughout the week where they can use their imagination to design an original Potato Head Character or create a ‘BookFace’ image (please see the examples below), as well as participate in quizzes and activities in the library.

During lunch on Thursday, 2 March, the library will host a Short Story writing competition, judged by our English Department. Winning entries will receive awards, as well as be printed and displayed for all students to read and celebrate afterwards.

We hope the whole SWPS community will engage with and enjoy our World Book Day celebrations.
