Sir William Perkins’s School was founded in 1725 and moved to it’s current site in Chertsey in 1819. The School sits on 13 acres of Surrey greenbelt conveniently close to the town centre and with excellent connections by road and rail.
The main school buildings at SWPS were constructed in the 1810s and the striking mix of Victorian architecture with contemporary, state-of-the-art buildings around our site offer a blend of and new and cater to the demands of a first-class 21st century education. Our intention is to provide our students with the very best facilities, creating an environment which is inspiring and enjoyable in which to learn, work and thrive. We are fortunate to have a beautiful 13-acre school site and in recent years we have undertaken a number of significant projects, both to create innovative new spaces and to renovate and revitalise older parts of the School. These ongoing developments are not only exciting, but stand as testament to our ambition to offer the best possible environment for our students and for others who benefit by using our site.
We are pleased to open our facilities to the local community and offer our spaces for sports, social and special events. These include;
- A large sports hall
- Three all-weather courts (MUGA)
- Astro pitch
- Football pitch
- Performing arts centre
- Drama studios
- Jarvis Music Hall
- A 340-seat auditorium
- Sixth Form Centre with conference meeting rooms
- Roof Terrace
- The Atrium Cafe
