BEYOND THE CLASSROOM
We recognise that lifelong learning involves much more than pure academics. Whether it is onstage, camping in the Surrey Hills, playing hockey, a trip overseas or cooking up a storm in our kitchens, our co-curricular offering has something for everyone to try.
We encourage pupils to step outside their comfort zone, both physically and mentally by engaging with something new or by stretching existing skills. It is during these moments that pupils learn most about themselves and gain confidence to take risks knowing that they can learn from their mistakes and failures. Our School Values underpin all that we do and our co-curricular offering seeks to reinforce them.
We open hearts, too, with a flow of opportunities for community and charity work within school, coordinated by the student-led charity team, as well as the friendly (and rather competitive) House events. SWPS pupils have an outstanding record in the Duke of Edinburgh scheme, too, learning a great deal from participating in the Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards.
'Pupils are encouraged to take full advantage of the extensive range of opportunities beyond the classroom that the school offers.'
