The sporting journey

As students continue through the school, the range of sports on offer is expanded so that older students have more choice as to the activities they take part in, both on and offsite.

Support from the outset

Prior experience varies greatly so whether already attending a club, or completely new to an activity, PE staff will be there to help! Two members of staff lead Year 7 classes to enhance support and create appropriate challenge for students.

Swimming at SWPS

The school is delighted to support students who wish to compete in events outside of school. We proudly support students who are swimmers, and several members of the senior school are on the England swimming pathway. We run friendly and competitive fixtures, depending on ability. We compete at the Surrey Individual and Team event for those who are club swimmers.

Rowing

Rowing is extremely popular at SWPS and one of the school's major sports, starting in the form of a the ‘Ready to Row’ Strength and Conditioning sessions in Year 7 and 8, progressing to a Water Learn to Row camp in the summer of Year 8.

Rowing in Year 9 becomes a full co-curricular option. We then offer a performance pathway from Year 10 onwards for those looking to be competitive in the sport, but also offer a recreational route as part of games afternoons.

The Boat Club was opened in 2016 as part of the school's Building Development programme and is situated at Laleham Reach, a short distance from the school. In recent years SWPSBC has had rowers competing for Great Britain at junior level as well as racing at Henley Royal Regatta against some of the best school crews in the world.

U14Netball

There are an enormous number of opportunities for students to participate in sport at Sir William Perkins's School.
